Honestly I'm shocked at the difference in my nails. I've had weak nails throughout my life (over 60 years) and since using Kester Black (oil) they have become really strong. I could never grow them as they'd break.

I am so disappointed with the lack of longevity in this product. I bought two Kester Black nail treatments last year.
The Supersonic top coat was very good for a few applications, then thickened little by little until I was not able to use it at all for the past few months. Does Kester Black have a better nail treatment to protect polish available now ?
I have pics if the 1/3 content which is totally useless and a waste of hard earned money.

Thank you for taking the time to share this, and I'm sorry the Supersonic Top Coat thickened on you. What you've described comes down to how traditional nail polish works. Supersonic Top Coat is made with butyl acetate and ethyl acetate, solvents that evaporate when they meet air. That evaporation is what dries the polish on your nails, but it also means a small amount escapes from the bottle each time it's opened, and over months of use the polish left in the bottle gradually thickens.
That last third of your bottle isn't wasted, either. A nail polish thinner, available from most pharmacies and beauty retailers, replaces the evaporated butyl acetate and ethyl acetate, and a few drops should bring it back to a usable consistency.
On what's available now, our new range of nail polishes is water based, so they don't rely on solvents that evaporate this way and shouldn't thicken like this over time.

I used a full range of KB prodicts Tuesday night before a concert - for base I used the ridge filler (has been great!), 2 coats of your black, with the holo on accent nails, and then this top coat. It looked great that night, but began chipping the next day. This is after 2.5 days... not sure I can spend an hour every 3 days on my nails :(

Based on other reviews I perhaps had too high expectations. This is after 1 week of wear. 2 coats of colour and 1 coat of the top coat. Application was good and drying time good as well. Didn't smudge off like other brands can during the curing time. No chips for the first 2 days but after that it started peeling off.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having issues with the nail polish chipping.
The most important part of preventing chipping is the nail prep, rather than the top coat. The top coat helps to prevent wearing off from rubbing but chipping is usually caused by natural oils on the nail (from the keratin cells in the nail or from hand creams/soaps etc).
We've got a few steps we recommend to prevent chipping from occurring:
1. Coat a cotton pad in Isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe over each fingernail to eliminate any oily residue prior to painting.
2. Apply a thin layer of Miracle Treatment Base Coat to the nail and allow to dry.
3. Using your favourite nail polish, apply a thin coat over each fingernail, coating the surface from base to tip. Allow to dry (five minutes should do it) before applying a second coat.
4. Once dry, seal the colour in with Supersonic Top Coat to prolong wear and prevent chipping.
5. To refresh and prolong your manicure, apply Supersonic Top Coat to the tips of your nails every 2 days.
The most important part is the first step so I would highly recommend trying that.

This is an amazing top-coat in terms of shine and long-lasting manicures! I normally get about a week of wear (with minor chipping around day 5). For comparison, my nails are so weak that I'm normally lucky to get 2-3 days of wear before they chip. The only reason I've rated it 4 stars rather than 5 is that it's quite hard to work with. It congeals quickly while painting and I'm left with air bubbles on a lot of my nails. It's also really thick, so this problem can't be solved by just painting a thinner layer. I'm hoping this is just an issue because it's summer and we're experiencing a heat wave at the moment. The other issue is that it picks up the coloured polish underneath and kind of mixes the colour with the top coat. I've had this happen with three KB polishes (fairy floss is pictured) as well as polishes from other brands - even if I wait 10+ minutes before applying top coat. I'm worried that this will make the top coat increasingly difficult to work with as the colour sticks to the brush.
Despite these drawbacks, it's overall a great top coat and I would definitely buy it again. It's worth the finicky application to get such a long-lasting manicure. And hopefully I won't experience these issues as much once summer is over!

Used colour (2 coats) and top coat only (1 coat) dried amazing fast! Felt lovely in my nails, but chipped within 12hrs, woke up with it chipped and peeling. Really disappointing. Returned to Goose in Geelong Vic for full refund. Really disappointing after reading amazing reviews.
